A 30 year old city resident who had inadvertently swallowed a 10-Inch metal spoon underwent a life-saving procedure at the SAS Grewal Multi specialty Hospital, Gurdev Nagar. Ludhiana, Punjab India.
The Spoon was stuck inside his oesophagus. Hospital director Charanpreet Singh Grewal performed an endoscopy procedure that lasted 15-20 minutes, removing the spoon. The patient had initially approached the hospital com-planning of mild chest pain and revealed that he had accidentally swallowed a spoon, rendering him unable to consume food or liquids comfortably.
Sharing details, Grewal said “The Patient come to us with chest pain and informed us about mistakenly swallowing a spoon, which was causing extreme discomfort and hindering his ability to eat or drink anything”
Upon assessing the situation, the doctor informed the patient that they would first attempt to remove the spoon through an endoscopic procedure. In the event that this approach proved unsuccessful, the patient would have had to undergo a more complex surgery to extract the foreign object from his body.
The endoscopy. however was successful and he was discharged on the same day
